John E. Kessler, J.D.
Executive Vice President and Senior Trust Officer
John is the executive officer responsible for the Trust and Investment Management Services Group of Chemical Bank. His current supervisory responsibilities also include the CFC Investment Center. In addition to managing the Trust Department, John’s responsibilities include the administration of personal and institutional trusts, investment agency accounts, and estate settlement. John has practiced law for over 15 years and has extensive experience in the areas of estate tax planning, trusts, and estate administration and probate. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Miami University and his Juris Doctor from the Ohio State University College of Law. John is a member of the Michigan Banker’s Association Trust Counsel Committee and serves as current Chairman of the Trust Executive Committee.
James A. Blanchard, CTFA
Senior Vice President and Director of Personal Trust
Jim manages Chemical Bank's Personal Trust group at all of the Trust Department locations and helps to set the strategic course for its personal trust services. In addition, he serves as Site Manager of the Grand Rapids Office where his responsibilities include administration of personal and institutional trusts, investment agency accounts, and estate settlement. Jim has over 28 years of experience in trust and estate administration. Jim is a graduate of Aquinas College where he earned his BSBA. He is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University and is a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Jim currently serves as Chairman of the Michigan Bankers Association Trust Taxation Committee.
Suzann R. Bugosh
Trust Operations Assistant
Suzann’s responsibilities include managing the transfer of trust assets and management of trust-owned real estate. She is also responsible for managing the payment of fiduciary income taxes. Suzann has a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting from Western Michigan University.
Shelly L. Caufield
Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Shelly’s responsibilities include administration of personal trusts and investment agency accounts. Shelly has over 30 years experience with Chemical Bank. During that time, she has served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility. Shelly attended the Midwest Trust School.
Pamela J. Dolezan
Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Pam’s responsibilities include administration of personal and institutional trusts, investment agency accounts, and estate settlement. She has over 30 years of trust operation and administration experience. Pam earned her associate degree in applied science from Lake Michigan College and is a graduate of Cannon Financial Institute’s trust program.
Candy L. Keysor-Oudman, J.D.
Assistant Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Candy’s current responsibilities include the administration of individual retirement accounts, personal trusts, investment agency accounts, and estate settlement. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor from Thomas Cooley Law School. Candy’s prior practice of law focused on elder law issues and the areas of estate planning, probate, business law, and real estate.
JoAnna L. Kolbiaz
Assistant Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
JoAnna is responsible for business development and the administration of personal trusts, investment agency accounts, foundations, and estate settlement. She has 15 years experience with Chemical Bank including 3 years of retail banking. JoAnna has a bachelor's degree from Ferris State University in business management and is a graduate of Cannon Financial Institute’s trust program. She is currently studying to become a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor.
Paul Larsen, J.D.
Assistant Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Paul’s primary responsibilities include administration of personal trusts and investment agency accounts. He has over 10 years experience as an attorney specializing in estate planning, probate and trust administration, and succession planning for closely held businesses. Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor from Wayne State University. Paul is a board member of the Northeastern Michigan Estate Planning Council, a member of the Michigan Bankers Association Trust Counsel Committee, and a member of the State Bar of Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Section.
Dawn M. Marquiss
Trust Operations Assistant
In addition to providing services for individual and institutional trust and investment management clients, Dawn manages access to portfolio online, the Trust Department’s internet site. With over 20 years experience, Dawn came to Trust Operations from Chemical Bank’s Audit Department bringing with her the knowledge and understanding of daily operational procedures bankwide. Dawn is a graduate from Delta College with a degree in finance and banking management.
Chrysa Milholland, J.D.
Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Chrysa is primarily responsible for the administration of personal trusts. She has been with Chemical Bank’s Trust Department since 2005. Prior to joining the Trust Department, Chrysa worked as an attorney for the State of Florida and as a judicial law clerk for the circuit court in Midland. Chrysa is a graduate of Creighton University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in english and the University of Florida College of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor. Chrysa is currently attending the ABA National Graduate Trust School.
Susan M. Murphy
Assistant Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Sue's responsibilities include the administration of estates, personal and institutional trusts, and investment management accounts. Her professional experience includes 14 years as a personal trust officer, 7 years as a trust tax analyst, and 7 years as the planned giving director for two non-profit organizations. Sue received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Toledo and is a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Graduate Trust School. Sue serves on the boards of the SJV Education Foundation. She is a member of the West Michigan Estate Planning Council and the Western Michigan Planned Giving Group.
Jude T. Patnaude
Senior Vice President and Director of Trust Operations
Jude has supervisory responsibility for the operations of Chemical Bank’s Trust and Investment Management Group. Jude has been with Chemical Bank for 30 years, with over 20 of those years in trust operations. Jude is a graduate of Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and Central Michigan University where he earned his MBA. He is also a graduate of the Midwest Trust School and the AIB School for Bank Administration.
Debora R. Rittenburg, CSOP
Vice President and Senior Trust Operations Assistant
Debora’s responsibilities include oversight of the Trust Department’s daily operational processing. She has 20 years experience in Trust Operations. Debora is a graduate of the Northeastern School of Commerce general accounting program and has received diplomas from the American Bankers Association in general banking and their bank operations programs. She is also an honors graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame, Securities Operations School, and is a Certified Securities Operations Professional (CSOP) through the Institute of Certified Bankers.
Cheryl Whitman, J.D.
Vice President and Personal Trust Officer
Cheryl is the Personal Trust Officer responsible for the settlement of estates and trusts in our Midland and Grand Rapids offices. In addition to her estate settlement duties, her responsibilities include administration of personal and institutional trust and investment agency accounts. Prior to joining Chemical Bank in 2003, Cheryl was an estate planning and tax attorney with the firm of Currie Kendall PLC for over 8 years. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University where she earned her degree in business administration and the University of Michigan where she earned her Juris Doctor. Cheryl is a member of the Northeast Michigan Estate Planning Council and is currently serving as president of the council for the 2008-2009 year.
